Dear Linux people: fucking make up ur mind and choose one distro and go with it.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...

Everyone of them distros is a pile of shit code, made by a bunch of amateurs who think they're inventing a new OS.

    Fuck you, I'll switch it up as many times as I want thank you!

    You rude yo...
    We don't do that here

    I think natural selection will play its roll, talented programmers that create a likable os will continue where less popular os'es will stop or merge. So eventualy its a democratic vote on where to go with software. In contradiction to windows where the company holds all the cards.

    @resdac Pure meritocracy at its finest.

    i do not get the distro-switching point either, but its none of our business. i think it is as easy as that.

    @Clear0Ff

    "we don't do that here", Oh ReAlLy ? thanks for telling me, Mr. so-nice-never-rude.

    srsly tho, this is what creates a time bomb of suppressed feelings, don't be so judgmental .

    You do realize Linix is open source right? That means people can do what the fuck they want with it, just like I can do what the fuck I want with my system

    @resdac yeah, winblows and mac hold all the cards, but at least their OS's are usable for actual work.

    @Macromeda my prefered distro is ready to rumble at any given moment. Its wayy faster than windows and I (emphasis on I ) like it. Dat does not mean i hate other distro's or windows.

    somehow reminds me of https://devrant.com/rants/1507285/...
    what do you define as actual work?

    tried to switch as well, but it seems i stick with windows as i need to use office. but besides this i think linux might be suitable if you know your requirements

    @Ellis

    your comment summed up the whole of the linux community that i for a long time used to support and love; the motto is flame anyone who talks against any linux distro.

    Ok there are some distro's that require some setup or are very specific in their tasking but if that is wat some people need. Be my guest. I tried a linux server distro once i liked it and understood why people made it, but i needed something more broad so i switched. And thank god there are so many because i can not make a full fetched distro

    @Macromeda I'm sorry!

    But still Linux is better at some things just because is open source and far more light weight.
  • 3
    @Macromeda Easy there, It was a joke.

    You can be miffed by whatever you want, I don't give a shirt.
  • 0
    @Macromeda you not just against it, you're down right shaming it

    @ScribeOfGoD thanks captain obvious.

    What i hate about the linux community is that, instead of them grouping up together to make one really fucking good distro that would compete against mac, they just do another no-body bullshit mediocre distro.

    EVERYONE IS MISSING THE POINT.
  • 1
    @Macromeda i like the idea but then you would not solve the problem but just shift it.
  • 2
    @Macromeda What distros lack in unity, the make up for in variety.

    E.g. Windows takes up way too much space in my lappy, so I put antegros on there, and the exact same amount of space is taken up with the os AND what I want on there.

    @erroronline1 i'm not gonna go into that empty loop of an argument, im just going to remind you that linux holds a very small % of the desktops worldwide. people are not crazy for buying apple laptops, even tho apple is an evil witch of a company, it's just the only option left for professionals. not everyone wants to hack into their OS to make it work right.

    @resdac

    exactly.... shift the problem towards a centralized repo, where from mistakes, lessons will be learned and never repeated, experience never lost, efforts focused, work done much faster towards a one goal: a free functional, practical, easy to use and good looking OS.

    @Ellis that variety is causing more unseen problems than you think of, i find a solution for a problem on mac or windows in one google search, while for linux, sometimes i gotta ask the forum for help, it's insane.
  • 2
    @Macromeda Depends on your problem and if you have the money for either windows or a mac.

    I view linux like the C language, infinite control as long as you know what you're doing, so perfect for developers and hobbyists. Not so much for common users.

    Then again, ubuntu exists, so why don't you use that?

    @Ellis it's to hard for him 😂😉

    @ScribeOfGoD

    "it's to hard for him"

    how the fuck do you know ? bro, you're in devrants, 99.9999% of us here are devs, which means that it's not hard to set linux up, i used to set up arch linux all the time, and do all the little customizations that i like, but i'm too old for this shit now, i've got work to do, screwing around in an OS every now and then is not doable anymore.

    the amount of immaturity and wagon-jumping in this thread is too damn high. does anyone think for himself anymore ?
