    Chrome modularizes all of its activities(on every OS), so each one(ie: a tab) is a distinct PID.

    That said, there's really no clear "better" between firefox and chrome on this score, because neither uses system resources efficiently. On any OS.

    @bahua idk Firefox works suberb on my Ubuntu atleast with 275 tabs open until I installed onetab

    Also, there's just 2 tabs open in both.

    I also don't have loads of extensions in them

    @gitlog

    As it does for me too(as does chrome, though I prefer firefox), but that's only because linux is far, far better at handling multiple concurrent processes. They've been hamfisting it in windows for decades, and they still haven't gotten it right.

    looks like your disk i/o is throttling. time for an upgrade to an ssd?

    @balte yeah.. I'm considering that ...
    However for now, my HDD works great for Linux.

    1 TB SSD comes at a cost where I've to impress my parents ;)

    It’s your hard disk mate, the read and write is slowing your computer

    @devTea hmm...
    But why only in windows? 🤔
    Works just perfect when on linux...

    At least your RAM is getting eaten by something you're using. I always get fucked by Antimalware service executable.

    Chrome extensions eat up most of the memory in chrome and they also show up as different processes.

    With minimal extensions I use around 200mb ram at work with ~10 tabs pinned.

    - Linux uses much less disk io (windows has telemetry crap to track your every move)
