Don’t use Facebook.

That is all.

No justification required

@Jakuho That’s legit. But let’s argue about something productive instead. Haha

    While creating Facebook..

Woe to you, oh Earth and sea, for the Devil sends the Beast with wrath
Because he knows the time is short..

    @bioDan f.y.i. i don't use snapchat either.
  • 12
F.Y.I I dont use Google either

@Stallman @ceee @bioDan @Jakuho I don't use (or try to as little as possible) any service integrated within the prism mass surveillance network.

So that cuts out anything from:
    Google
    Facebook
    Twitter
    Apple
    Yahoo
    AOL
    Microsoft
    And a few more.

@Jakuho I think not wanting to use any service which is integrated within a mass surveillance network should be a good enough argument.

I love this thread. Lol a bunch of “ ... I don’t use this either.”

I don't use Facebook, primary reason is that I have better things to do than scroll through posts of people's shitty vacations at cheap sun resorts, photos of their ugly babies, and shared advertisments to win free mascara.

Fuck off, you guys use the internet wrong. The internet was created for science, games, flamewars and porn. I don't want to see pictures of your avocado salad.

I use social media but I’ve purged it of all things shit. I only see things related to what I want to learn such as code and memes.

Don’t get me started on instagram it is the fakest place on earth. So many people follow me thinking I’d follow back just to unfollow me. I don’t even care but I see the numbers every time and they conclude people’s narcissism, It’s disgusting.

The senselessness of posting selfies with personal thoughts on a public space where the world can read it.

@linuxxx it is, and that's the reason why I'm not using it/avoid a maximum.

@makmm You like Twitter for the community?

My experience is that if you tweet "God damnit I really like carrot soup" — there will be neonazis graffitiing your house because carrots are not white enough, feminists screaming at you because carrots are phallic, Christians rage at you for insulting their bearded dude, and some really ugly woman is trying to sell you carrot vitamin pills because all vegetables are infected by silver iodide chemtrails which will mind control you into paying taxes.

@makmm (not blaming or attacking you or anything, let's make that clear)

I'm also 'forced' to use WhatsApp as except for me, there's only one person I know irl in the Netherlands who doesn't use it either.

It's an ethical thing and yes, I've lost friends over it (no kidding too badly) but i can't morally talk using it to okay for myself.

I find it astonishing - a massive database of who you care about, what's important to you, where you work, where you are in a given moment, who are you with, when are you coming back, where will you be in x days. Now, not pointing fingers but imagine there were some very bad people there approx. 80 years ago trying hard to find all of this out to control and blackmail citizens.

And now it's served on a silver plate.

@aerfromenes It's an often cited fact about Dutch history during the last world war: The Holocaust hit especially hard in our country in part because our tolerant society of traders harbored a high amount of Jews, because of unfavorable rural geography, but also because we are a nation of data hoarders with a modern central cadastre — which included profession and religion back then.

When I bought my house, I was handed papers of all previous ownerships, including a Jewish boat builder who was shot in my bedroom, a Nazi officer who lived there for two years, and the family who bought it at the auction after the war.

That habit of meticulous record keeping on the whole population has spread throughout the world and has even been commercialized, despite of it's dangers.

    @rutee07

For complete documentation, you also need pictures after dinner.

"This is the grilled aubergine on a bed of wild rice mixed with three glasses of canard-duchêne, after digestion. I MUST have this cherry-wood toilet seat for my pied à terre!"

"Aww FUCK this latern posstt looks dumb imma throw up on it... let me show you guyz im such an influenncer LOL"

@makmm Well, it's also integrated within the biggest surveillance system in the world so yah... Bad..?

I failed to delete Google because downloading 17 GB through 600 KB/s is abysmal, Instagram because there's no good replacement, Microsoft and Apple ID (I don't use my Apple ID that much) because I'm too lazy, and Twitter because it's locked and I cannot deactivate the account. Even then I would need to completely change my identity (which is FUCKING troublesome) because they collected a lot of info on me. I had a Facebook once, but I didn't use it that much (it didn't even have a profile picture, so Facebook doesn't know how I look IRL), then I deleted it.
