So why is there a cancel button?

Because its a commoncontrol being used, and its propably possible to cancel the repair at a earlier stage.

Because Windows us dumb imo.

You could cancel it earlier. What happened that forced you to go into repair mode?

@julianmd The dreaded blue screen of death and couple of hours of not starting windows. I eventually just did a factory recovery and it is fine now.

@lumeshadow I love troubleshooting stuff. Do you happen to remember what the blue screen mentioned as faulty? Did you try to boot into Safe Mode? And most importantly, did you try fixing it with Hiren's Boot CD? Feel free to not reply, this is not an interrogation. xD
