Just wrote a brute-force attack simulation in c. Going to run it on actual hardware, with an 8-character limit, including alphabet (Upper and lower case), 0-9 and a few special characters and see if it gets done tonight ;)

Looks doable. 360E12 on a 3 Ghz 8-core should be roughly 4 hours (with 8 threads).

Ladies and gents, it has been 3 hours, and I am sure there are many literal days left to this process. I will retire my laptop now, as I have lost interest. I'm using the clock function to measure processing time, so if I hibernate/ sleep my laptop, I am pretty sure it will pause the time too, but I don't care enough to keep running it anymore; point is, this was a success. Just wish I wrote a progress bar.
