Why on earth would anyone agree to work in a company that sends your code to some other team to check it then you get stupid comments like yes it works great but make the code look like the code in that system we made 10 years ago so everything can look the same. Easier for maintenance.

That is not how programming works ...
Code has an essence to it...
You cant just make me break the ...

Honestly id rather work for less money and never have my code questioned on the bases that “it should look like...”

    I sympathize, but being a good citizen in any project requires some compromise. Keeping new code looking reasonably like existing code is one thing. Sometimes you also have to resist temptation and not refactor something exactly to your liking. So, I sympathize, but it's not an unreasonable request (unless they are being outrageously, unreasonably anal about stuff that doesn't matter)
