Me: walks into a coffee shop and orders a latte

Barista-1: can you cover for me tomorrow.

Barista-2: I am busy with family. Do you have plans?

B-1: no.

B-2: are you sick?

B-1: yeah! My throat hurts soooo much and I can hardly breath!

B-2: ahhhhh. That’s too sad.

B-1: commences to make my latte while breaking heavily into it.

Me: Walks the fuck away.

Fuck. That. Shit.

The $6 it costs for that latte isn’t worth missing a week of paying work with the flu!

I got no time for that type of shit. Stay the fuck home for fuck sakes.

You can't be fucking sick and work in the food industry. That's not ok at all.

I have worked in Kraft Foods production for a few months. The discipline there was extremely strict. You got an official leave for a runny nose, let alone the flu.
So you did a right thing leaving your coffee with the baristas.

    Why didn’t you say something!

@growling because saying something means more face to face interaction with sick people.

It’s wasn’t worth it for me to remain in that coffee shop another moment

People in the food industry work while sick ALL THE TIME. Why? Because for some reason we don't pay them enough and give them enough benefits to stay home. Nobody WANTS to go to work sick, as is obvious from what you said when you found out they were sick.

    ...

Sorry I'm in a cantankerous mood tonight.

@Brosyl So I worked at Subway for a while back in the day, and we ended up hiring the son of the city health inspector. Not really surprising, that place was nepotism all the way down. Anyway, this fucking kid was SOOO dumb. Like not in a handicapped way just in like he had never had to do the tiniest thing for himself in his life so he never bothered to learn how. Anyway, me and my buddy were closing with him one night and we had him sweeping and a customer came in. In this case, it wasn't that he failed to put gloves ON, it was that he failed to take them off.

He was sweeping with gloves on for some reason, and then went straight to making a sandwich. Dude was pissed. Me and my buddy who were in charge just kind of looked at eachother like we were in a sitcom for ten seconds or so, and then my friend just sighed and was like "Sorry sir. Let me remake that sandwich for you" and the guy calmed down a bit and just made a few threats before leaving.

@Brosyl hehe yeah. No he would have been fired long before the meth heads that worked there if not for that fact. I am still not sure if this stupid motherfucker was just priveleged due to being rich and pampered or if he some kind of indetectable mental issue that made him incapable of simple tasks despite being on his high school basketball team.
