Fuck GoDaddy man... Paid extra for the privacy feature thinking I wouldn't get harassed by phone. Think again! Got tons of calls from India in two days. What a rip off...

I guess they're selling our info or something...

What service do you guys use? I want to move my domains, any recommendation?

    @undef It's free with .CA domains too, but you still need to buy that .COM :/ And I guess I would have to use a EU based provider to benefit from GDPR?

    I switched to hover some years ago, and I've been very happy with it. Simple web UI, without the desperate attempts to sell you additional services. I've never purchased domain privacy, but the whois spam I get is pretty minimal, and anyway it all goes to an unmonitored address, so I don't see it unless I make an effort.

    Let me start with saying that I know a thing or two about domains. And I keep all of them with Moniker.
    Let me also tag @Linux - he is #1 domain expert here.
    And hell YEAH - fuck godaddy.

    @bahua Thanks! I'll take a look at it! Honestly, I don't care that much for the spam emails, they fall into my spam folder anyways. It's the phone calls. Those are annoying as f*. And the fact that I paid extra for essentially nothing.

    @grumpythedev

    For years I had my phone number set to all zeros, but I don't think they let you do that anymore.

    Now it's set to my Google Voice number which doesn't ever ring anywhere.

    I'm with Flokinet, both for domain (incl. private whois) and hosting. They would never eben be able to sell my phone number or physical address because they don't require these data in the first place.

    @Fast-Nop I wouldn't expect otherwise from Iceland ;) I'll give them a look too, tx!

    @grumpythedev Orangewebsite is also good, and their support is even a bit better - but they suck for shared hosting because they don't allow Let's Encrypt and instead try to sell certificates. That's why I changed to Flokinet who slap on LE automatically and for free even for shared hosting.

    Yeah Iceland is not the cheapest country to host in, but they are neither EU nor US, and both providers don't react to to complains unless something is illegal in Iceland, too.
