lastNick5766y@GurvirBhogal killAllOtherProgrammers isn‘t enough as every human can become a programmer today
-
@1989 maybe there are some dead best programmer and u suck in the dead realm too ?
-
Condor323326yStackOverflow, search engines, practice, patience and persistence. Not a single word but hey, far more accurate and I don't like challenges like that anyway. They devoid all meaning from the conversation.
-
@GurvirBhogal nope, just "fuck" and it's variations.. "fuck me", "fuck this", "fuck it", "fuck this shit", "fuck you", "for fucks' sake", "what the fuck"... and on and on... otherwise
what @halfflat said is the result π -
ignorance.
(because when you're ignorant enough you're ignorant regarding of what you're ignorant about therefore you believe you're the best) -
nate15116yI would really question /why/ you would want to become the best programmer?
If you're in employment, becoming the best programmer does little else other than serving the needs of your employer. -
@nate just a random thought bro and why not become best in whatever you love to do ?
-
techneo1546y@GurvirBhogal start with algorithms and pseudo coding. Then flowcharts.
Try flogrithms. -
Condor323326y@jschmold @Root immortality comes with its own drawbacks though. Seeing your relatives, friends and loved ones die while you live on without them. Seeing the Earth become uninhabitable at some point.
Let's say that some fool at the US or North Korea decides to detonate all the nuclear weapons currently out there.. it won't blow up the world (Cody and Kurzgesagt made some good coverage on that) but it'll most certainly make life impossible. Yet you won't die because you're immortal.
Or, let's say that some psycho decides to cut you into little pieces. Or even government institutes with 3-letter names for that matter. Would you die while in extreme pain, vital body parts completely disintegrated? No, because you're immortal. But the pain.. it'd be insane.
There's a lot of things that I want to be, but immortality, even for everything in the world and beyond, I would never want to be immortal. This is in a context of programming, but immortality is also a part of religion.. the fear to die. Why be afraid of it? Immortality is so much worse. And why does it matter when dying is pretty much falling asleep forever? And after your demise, there's no consciousness left to care anyway, right? -
Root797506y@Condor I'm not afraid of death.
But if I was immortal, I'd very likely have the ability to deal with immortality. I'd also hide it quite well. Rather used to hiding everything about myself due to my upbringing....
But with AI, I probably wouldn't be lonely forever. So, while it's absolutely a daunting prospect, it wouldn't be as bad as you imagine. -
Condor323326y@Root how would someone not notice when you're still alive after, say, 200 years? Even more than 100 years is pretty unusual.
AI, yeah probably it could provide some salvation.. can't say that I like humans over programs myself either, so an AI like Google Assistant, it'd be great as it matures further. The latter is so much more predictable. But it isn't everything.. the realization that you're just talking to a program.. I don't think that I'd be able to live with that for very long. And my family - can't say that I care whether they're dead or alive, but still... -
Root797506y@Condor Easy: Start a new life.
I've done that several times already.
Legal documents would be harder, but there are always clerical errors, fires, etc. to explain things. And plastic surgery π
People come and go.
If I lived forever, I'd always find someone else. And when there were no more people, technology would fill the gaps. It would be pretty advanced by then. And with all the time, ever, I could extend it pretty well, and eventually I'd find aliens.
