@telephantasm my first job as fresher was taking over a massive codebase in assembly and adding new features.

In Switzerland the apprenticeship counts as the experience.
So a 4 year apprenticeship is 4 years of experience.

In Sweden, we like liquorice

I am completely against working for free because even if you're just a beginner, you are devoting your precious time and workforce to an employer.

But in reality, it is entirely possible to just get an "Aufwandsentschädigung" (german, engl. maybe allowance?) which also may be below minimum wage. Just do not know the law specifics.
