Steve Jobs was a clever guy. What he says makes sense. The difference here is that he really made things move forward, and not into a proprietary direction. Have they used a USB-C port I'm sure people would be more understanding. But using the Lightning port which virtually no other company uses instead of the 3.5mm jack was a bold move.

But personally I think phone are thin enough, maybe too thin, if you ask me. I don't really see a reason for the removal. They didn't get rid of something obsolete to put something better in its place.
