I once applied for a student internship (needed for school). I already had another place before my favorite one replied, but I decided to still write them and ask for a reply, because my application had been pending for 3 months. After 3 days I received an automated rejection letter.
Sure, it was just a little internship, but I don't see how they can have a fancy application system that manages their application, but can't even write an automated rejection when they choose someone else...
