    Start by sleeping at 9-10pm

I had the same story, until I got Alarmy. An alarm app which will force you to solve maths questions to stop its otherwise non-stop loud ringing sound which tends to infinity if you are weak at maths.

    1. Move the alarm few meters away from you, so that you need to walk in order to shut it down.

    2. Replace the ringtone with the emergency alarm of a Start Trek spaceship.

    3. Set the volume at maximum.

Get some rest, I'm in a burn-out myself and worked past the point where I could not wake up.

Now in a stage where I can't sleep anymore. And its really messing up my life. Impaired judgement, no concentration, even hallucinations sometimes.

But then again sometimes it's hard to take rest, I still can't get enough. But be careful.

Is a momentary burn out because of overwork or you wake up every day tired and you get pissed off easily?
do you have eating disorders or intestinal problems? (one of the first symptoms of nervous system malfunction)
If you get a burn out there is only one thing to do...
    Go to a shrink!!!
I've got mine for 3 years and it only got worst until I got sick leave. Well got fired because of that but fuck it.
It can take years to treat a burnout, and every time it gets worst you can add months to the treatment, so get to a doctor soon.

Can you add more info on how you got that fucking burn out so we can give better tips?

Get those alarm apps that have you solve math problems for the alarm to stop.

Incredibly annoying but also do the job

Btw I usually have 3 Alarms...
When I got my burn out, I placed 6 with different tones.
Only fell asleep one day or two.
Don't drink coffee after 5 pm.
And you probably aren't resting right when you sleep, that's why you wake up tired. You can start by drinking sleeping tea before bed.
I recommend a band at this time, Xioami ones are cheap and can tell you how much time you had in deep sleep.

@GyroGearloose i drink like... 5 coffees per day, sometimes hit a couple of redbulls when coffee is not enough. it helps me to think a lot faster and do the work faster. i try to fall asleep at midnight and wake up at 5am, only managed to do this once.

someone (very rich) suggested to do his routine: sleep at 9pm, wake up at 4:30am and grind all day.

elon musk, bezos etc suggested to have a good sleep for brain to function properly. others suggest otherwise. idk who to listen. i have too much shit to do and i cant do it all in 24h so i have to sleep faster.

@SukMikeHok Well If you can get to bed at 10 pm maximum yes you will get a good sleep If your brain lets it...
Tried that, just couldn't sleep even If I was already in zombie mode.
Also, the maximum coffee dose recommended is 4 coffees... I recommend 3. And a Redbull has the same caffeine as 4 coffees and sugar to fill a small cup.
To reduce the coffee dose while still productive place hours for Coffee, before I got fired (I was on sick leave for like 8 months in a row) I would drink one when I got to work, other at 10 am, and other after lanch. I would drink the forth at 5 pm only If I was doing over time.

@SukMikeHok you sound like me two years ago, in my experience you can't keep this up. Try to get some rest before you end up like me. Taking pills not able to sleep and zero productivity.

Learn to say no, ask more money for your time. And take some breaks holidays.

Also, Always oversleep one day a week. On the weekend sleep, as much as you can to recover for the entire week, makes wonders.

@MisterArie i havent had any holiday break for 2 years straight bc i kept studying for exams every day.

@MisterArie Welcome to the group :p
By my experience of 4 years dealing with this shit while trying to work in a bad environment I know somethings:
    - Burn out rarely gets cured... Welcome to the pill habit for the rest of our lives.
    - Only us can help us. If you get a burnout, FUCK THE REST.
    - I got 3 meltdowns, each time I just got worst and worst, so avoid stressful situations. It's better to leave the current work if it's the cause (over time, bad environment), then stay till you die. (PS: I should be dead, by the times I've fallen asleep at the weel)
    - Learn how to let go... worrying helps to get worst. So I don't care about jack shit now. have lots of stuff to do, but I'm doing it at a slow pace.
. Get Objectives and focus on them. Pick a very hard objective you would really like, then middle point objectives where you will learn how to get to that final objective. For me is CNCs... Know how to work on them, now learning how to do the machines, step by step.

    @SukMikeHok Where you from btw?
  • 2
@GyroGearloose yeah I just had a little meltdown, could not get any work done for 2 weeks. Friend asked me to go for a drink.

I end up going out for 5 days straight. Multiple blackouts. End up getting my memory back in a weird place. I was drinking cofffee with 3 hookers on a Wednesday morning talking about how hard their way of life is. No clue how I got there.

Well I did have some fun this week. Okay a lot. But I spend 1000 dollars and got zero work done. The fact I was stressed out about.

Still have to wait 3 weeks before my appointment with my shrink. Wait lists around here are 1 to 6 months.

Replace alarm clock with automated bucket of water

@MisterArie WOW... that Hocker story... Man.

Solve the burnout, not its symptoms.

    Leave.
    Find new work.
Work towards never needing to be beholden to someone else again.

@GyroGearloose man what the fuck is this, i drank so much coffee for the last couple of days.. well weeks maybe months and now i gotta take a shit every 2 hours, fuck
  • 1
@SukMikeHok That means you're system is already fucked...
Please find a good shrink soon.
Also, excess coffee brings hearth palpitations and will create hearth problems in the future...
Btw, I also drunk like 7 or 8 coffees yesterday while I was doing cleaning to stay active... so... I also make the same mistakes even knowing the consequences...

@GyroGearloose today i got a fever. my head feels like it's gonna explode. i went to my college doctor, he gave me some stomach and headache pills. rly hope this passes fast, i got 3 exams by the end of this week, o won't be able to concentrate ffs. don't drink coffee anymore man, shit fucks u up real good

@SukMikeHok That's good, Usually most people can't let go of coffee in your situation, If you can it's the best option.
But really, pay for a good shrink and fast, the sooner you get well medicated the better, else you will just get worst... I learned that in our situation you only get worst, to get better you need lots of help, medication, and support from family.
My father was actually the reason for my last meltdown... He's the kind of man that would die first then putting a sick leave... He only learned when he saw me trying to run away to kill myself. Only had the support of my mother, now I have the support of them both. Although it's too late since my father could stop it for 3 years (he was one of the bosses in my old company and did nothing) but was more important to look good.
Now even he is against the company (after I left), but only learned when he understood he was about to burry is son...
