I'm looking into buying a new laptop. I want something speak and ultrabookish, but dedicated graphics are a must.

Will be mostly for work, so a good CPU and RAM are important, but probably will do some gaming. Battery life and cooling are pretty big too. I've looked at the Aero 15X, the XPS 15, Razer Blade, etc. I just can't decide. Need to get it this year for the the tax deductions for my contracting income. Any thoughts? What's the best one out there?

    @irene biggest problems with the Razer are: a) overheating issues (so I've heard) b) keyboard issues and c) I hate conspicuous branding

    Lenovo Carbon X1 or Dell XPS 13/15!

    @wholl0p comparing the XPS 15 to the Aero 15X, you can get better specs at a lower price with the Aero. Why choose the XPS?

    Except for the huge problems you get into when your device is faulty and needs to be returned/repaired, the built quality of the XPS is much better. You can even feel it's robustness! Also the screen if the XPS is more brilliant and the screen is one of the most important elements of a Notebook :-)

    @ganjaman @wholl0p what about the XPS throttling issues and the skipped keystroke issues?

    @nathanasius never had thermal issues with an xps 13 9something, but repasting it is like 10 minutes. Havent even heard about missed keystrokes

    @ganjaman oh, I'm talking about the XPS 15. The 13 doesn't have dedicated graphics.

    Xps 15 user here. Very nice laptop! Would recommend

    @elliotalderson what about the throttling issues? Did you have to re-paste and under-volt to get past that, or do you just deal with the throttling? The throttling is my biggest hang up

    @nathanasius I deal with it, since the laptop is provided by my company and I'm not allowed to tweak internals. But tbh I never really felt the throttling while programming or gaming. Ultimately the choice is upon you
