It's stupid to press the up button "dozens of times".

You hold it and that simulates pressing, then when you think you're near what you're looking for, you decrease your speed and then maybe go through the lines with individual presses..

Use reverse-i-search

history | grep "anything you remember"

@dder Huh, didn't know of that one. I see so many people do shutdown now instead of poweroff, know that on atleast.

@alvarlagerlof oh and you can press it once, type stuff, then via ctrl+r go to the next hit.
