@Linux By the way what timezone are you on? Saying this because here it's nearly 11PM, which is why I can't reasonably join ^^
-
Root826026yI added a nice fence, tree hedge, path, and dock so the island is safe.
Food is up to you, though! -
Root826026y@Jilano I started on it, though it's on the next island over.
Not going to help those who are afraid of a little swimming. 😋 -
Correction: Im not gonna be able to fix my bike and break our reserve bike as well...
-
Suppoze106yI joined yesterday with my SO to your server and I must say, I really missed Minecraft. And playing it now with a bunch of devs are just super awesome.
I never had the chance to really experience vanilla Minecraft multiplayer. We'll definitely be coming back :D -
@irene I nearly died several times in those caves though. There are a lot of dark places from where monster spawn and it can get really crowded in seconds
-
I found a burried treasure map. Have been digging around that location for an hour, died twice because its underwater. Does one of you already find it and didnt leave a sign?
-
@Linux I found a map pointing to the spawn island and the x was a bit in the sea on the side my island. You might see some light from the bottom of the sea there.
-
If someone finds the heart of the sea in that chest you can have everything but I would love to keep that xD
-
@kenogo just time the play button using voice. Thats what we always do at least xD
-
IF THE FUCKING PERSON WHO GRIEFED THE PUBLIC TURTLE FARM WITHIN A DAY OF BUILDING IT WOULD BE SO FUCKING KIND TO FIX IT AGAIN....
thank you -
I have fixed it partially again, you just need to restart he minecart and replace all the fucking blocks you removed...
Goddamit, I really thought people would be FUCKING mature... -
@Codex404 No need to get upset man ^^ I accidentally dug through the sand layer that's on top of the rails, and by doing so I blocked the cart which stopped it. Then I went to the switches to try to start it again but there were creepers in there, so I had to dig around to make sure they wouldn't explode everything. I tried to repair everything but my break was over and I had to get back to work :/ I couldn't find a way to start the cart before disconnecting
-
@ohemelaar and the cart was gone? Glass was broken, baby turtles left the room? Basically the whole system was griefed. No traces from creeper explosions though
-
@Codex404 Hmmm, that's not how I left it indeed 🤔 Glass was intact, only some sand was missing around the farm to let me access to the mechanics under it
-
endor57516y@kenogo not OP but I've hosted an MC server on a 1-core VPS with 1GB of ram and Ubuntu Server running on it. Maybe try launching the server with more memory dedicated? I was running mine with at least 512MB iirc, maybe more
-
endor57516y@kenogo I meant in the MC launch script, the default comes with a pretty low value by default I think (though I do suspect it may have been your cpu in your case)
-
Linux438106y@irene
Oh I understand.
The problem would be that we would get some griefers then from My hosted experience :/
But it depends on what the other players think about it. -
endor57516y@Codex404 "only" - look at this guy, with all his disposable income :P
@Linux maybe you could try whitelisting IPs? You could allow users to do a remote port forward through ssh on a specified port, so you'd only need to let the mc server listen on localhost, or you could even create a VPN (though handing out certs would be a pain in the ass).
You'd still have fine-grained control over users, since you could add and remove their ssh keys any time, and logs for all accesses.
But if it's too much of a hassle I understand, I'll just stick to my personal server 🤷♂️ -
@Linux Also its a very bad idea, because you can join with an admins name and you'd get their admin perms and items.
There are plug-ins to circumvent that, but they're not good. -
@Linux I have been running a Mc server for a long time here in Sweden, with focus with survival, where anyone can join and instantly build stuff.
It's pretty complex to handle griefing, and white lists does not really work.
A combination of recovery tools and allow players to manage their own 'zones'. -
Brolls31556yJust joined. Stoked, it’s been years since I’ve played mine craft.
What sort of time do people usually play? -
Linux438106yUPDATE;
Just moved the Minecraft Server to another newer and stronger box. Please let me know how it goes. The IPS/IDS was a pain to configure :P -
Brolls31556y@Linux it won't load. Keeps timing out on "loading terrain" 65ms ping on my end, but that should be fine.
-
Brolls31556y@Linux my guess would be that the server itself is fine, as is the server app, it’s probably the world data or something.
-
Brolls31556yI can connect though. It shows as available and it goes through the encryption flow, but then hangs and times out on “loading terrain”.
-
Brolls31556y@Linux https://spigotmc.org/threads/...
Apparently the scoreboard.dat file can be the issue, it gets too big, and on slower connections / all the time it can time out the login. -
Linux438106y@Brolls
No it is a firewall issue on my side, I wrote the rules from scratch and problably missed something -
@Brolls Often the same issue for me. It has to do with my connection to the server; it is hosted very far from me and most of the time it takes quite a few attempts to get connected, if it works at all
-
@Linux Do you have the server in online-mode? if so, can the server contact the login servers?
-
Linux438106y@ralnivar @AlgoRythm
The issue is now fixed, it seems like MC has added stuff so I had to define a new traffic category. -
Maybe you could also instead create a modded server? I could create a nice TechnicLauncher mod pack, I have experience with those.
Vanilla is nice, but does get boring after a while. :/ -
Linux438106y@PrivateGER
Never played, and I can deploy it quite easily.
I dont know how the launcher will work under Linux thou -
Brolls31556y@PrivateGER I’d be so up for that. Vanilla can get a bit dull after a while.
As long as it has pipes, machines and programming stuff (turtles etc) I am so down.
I felt for playing minecraft again...
Welcome to join me at mc.linux.pizza :P
