For VPS, cPanel does the job. - plus point and click for things I couldn’t care less for is fine by me.

For everything else I has Le SSH and know how.

Last time I used CPanel was when I bought hosting with my domain. Now I do it by hand but tbh CPanel makes things less of a pain but doing it manually is fun too but not for a daily task lol

Hate cPanel/WHM, but have gotten comfortable with Plesk. As mentioned above, it allows me to automate common tasks without having to worry about mistyping a command line instruction.

That said, no denying that it’s good to know SSH and where various .conf files are located for those times you truly need something advanced.

Ever considered that some devs (myself included) doesn't know everything about linux? and just want an interface "that works"

Plesk looks great but is shite technically.

cPanel decided to put all bad server management and security practices in one software package.

DirectAdmin looks like it’s from 1990, but only does what it needs to do. It’s great for sysadmins because it doesn’t take over the entire system.

As for control panels, the only ones that do the job, still allow sysadmins to do their job and aren’t shite technically are DirectAdmin, Virtualmin and InterWorx.

For stuff where an end user won’t be too involved, just script together some scripts to automate adding vhosts and all that. No control panel needed for that if you know what you’re doing.

(One of the reasons why system administration should be done by system administrators.)
