Don't panic sell. Do make a plan and follow it. Don't have emotional attachment. Sell on the way down, buy on the way up. That's how you profit.

If you are good at technical analysis and have the patience for it, you can predict the market's drops and pumps. And if you're good at it, you can make money on the down trends, too.
