Manager: You know you really shouldn’t pay off your mortgage faster than you absolutely have to. It’s the cheapest money you’ll ever get!
Dev: I’d rather work towards being debt free. Besides my RRSP (401k) is already maxed out
Manager: RRSPs are a scam! TFSAs (Roth IRAs) are way better
Dev: My TFSA is maxed out too
Manager: 😡 You still shouldn’t pay off your mortgage!
Dev: …17 -
Fuck all of those stupid fucking shitty spam and scam bots there is everywhere. I swear epsically on every single comment on youtube you would at least encounter one bot comment (thats if you are lucky) or on discord the amount of spam/scams you receive is ridiculous.
I swear everything i accidentially read any of that shit i lose the remining of my brain cells.
That should be a living proof of some human lives are completely worthless and why exeuction could be justified.
So if you are one of those kinds of people, who develop those kinds of bots, i have one thing to say. Fuck you and your inbreed incest familiy, i wouldnt call 911 on you, not even if you paid me a million dollars you human trashbag scum.8 -
I’m so tired, my brain hurts, I just want to sleep.
Have loads of work that I need to complete this week but I’m barely half way through so I’ll be working the weekend.
Work, family, relationships, house to look after. Having ‘it all’ is a complete fucking scam. It just leaves you exhausted, lazy and fat. All the while I’m painfully aware of how minuscule my problems actually are. Need to escape from this mind fuck treadmill somehow.17 -
I've been in touch by phone with a recruiter from collabera.com and they seem to be in a huge rush to get started with me in a cloud support engineer for Microsoft Azure. They have a screening call setup on Wednesday for me with an Account Manager at Microsoft Azure. With rising recruitment scams among other things, I'd looking to verify they are legitimate before I give them any information beyond the info I already gave. They've told me they need me to start the job ASAP.
They've asked for:
- Legal name
- State and County Name
- Partial date of birth (They were very clear to not include the year of birth)
- Choice of pay option
They've already sent me a pay offer and information on the health insurance plan I would receive.
There is a known phishing scam from collabera.net impersonating collabera.com according to the BBB that they're warning about.
I want to make sure that beyond low balling me for a pay offer (they said it's an 18-month contract) there's not anything else fishy going on.
I have other interviews this week and will likely have an offer from another company directly (not through a staffing agency) in a few weeks. While I want to accept offers that are good, I want to make sure I'm not giving my personal information to scammers.
Based on some research there seem to be a lot of scams using the company's name. I found the article https://theregister.com/2020/07/... at least indicates the company is real. In my call with them they did not insist on me giving them my social security number or other personal information (which they'd need for identity theft) and they also gave me information on the health insurance plan. On the other hand they seemed unprofessional. It's hard to know who to believe. They also sent me information on IIS I'm supposed to read before the screening call. It all seems very weird. I'm skeptical to say the least. It's all very detailed if it's a fake job offer scam.
I don’t want to skip a real interview but feel anxious after reading a lot of bad things about the agency.15 -
If women really were paid lower for THE SAME (!! this is important!) job as men, greedy companies would only hire women to save money.
It's more complex than that. The real problem with gender discrimination in STEM lies before jobs happen. It's in the uni where "smart" boys harass girls just because there are more of them. No, she doesn't code "good enough for a girl", she codes good enough, period, full stop.
If you disagree, tell me how exactly Cathie Wood single-handedly crushed Nikola motors, exposed their scam and earned shitload of money on it? How come she's a top of the top hedge fund money machine manager? According to propagators of "patriarchy", this shouldn't be possible, especially in a conservative field of financial institutions.
Every act of gender discrimination in both ways should be prosecuted. I did it personally on several occasions. But there is nothing more to it. I got called out and harassed for my sexual orientation and identity more times than I care to mention. But it wasn't because society somehow united to systematically oppress just me. It's just because that harassers and ONLY that harassers personally were fucking douchebags, and there is nothing more to it.11 -
getting a scam message in the work phone saying it's from a rival company is really funny, might be the highlight of my week 😂4
-
They did not renew my contract. Dude you left me hanging for a whole day (I was wondering if I even had a job or if it was just some sort of scam), then at my second task, on my third day, when I ask for a call to show me wtf was I supposed to do, told me to "just read".
The ticket was just a link to figma. I did my best, but missed some stuff that were supposed to change. It could have been avoided if you just took the time to show me around, you stupid fuck.4 -
AI is this huge scam to me. People keep saying it will take over everything and replace everything: jobs, people, etc. It is so over hyped by people who don't understand how it actually works.
I will wonder if AI can take over everything when they can build an AI that can weed a garden.
- no chemicals, too much is used and poisons everything.
- the garden cannot be specifically designed to be weed by machine.
- the AI must differentiate between weeds and non-weeds.
- the robotic system employed must not destroy everything else while weeding.
- the AI should know when it finds random objects like gloves, or shorts, cigarettes, or electrical components that they need attention or actually pick them up. Yes, I have found these.
- it should be quick and energy efficient and not require an entire nuclear plant to run the AI. What is the point of AI powered by a server somewhere if it pollutes from afar rather than local.
I just don't see this happening in my lifetime.21 -

New office stories during the emotional turmoil...
Story 1: The creepy fuck
So being unaware of the fact that I was connected with this guy on LinkedIn already.
Ron walks upto my desk and greets me on my first day on floor. Weird, but whatever.
I politely interact, because gotta make friends and create my following to get shit done.
The next day, randomly comes asking for a laptop sticker and I am like WTF! He is like sticker was an excuse, I just wanted to say Hi!
👀
Day 3: same random creep shit. Talks about personal topics and invades personal space uninvited.
Day 4: Keeps starring at me while I ignore and judges me evidently with stupid suggestions on how to exist without being asked for.
Fuck this guy.
Story 2: The classic case of Dunning Kruger effect
So I get introduced to my tech team today and everyone start piling on me to guide them on decision making. The CTO creates a Slack thread with me and Co-founder asking me to get things moving on priority.
The co-founder shut him out right away. Fucking hilarious.
But, a retard starts schooling me on how to use Slack. Lmfao.
Me being polite, said I'll follow.. dude starts bragging on how he wrote company policy to get everyone on Slack yada yada..
To be honest, the Slack experience is beyond broken based on what these idiot has setup.
He literally opened my Slack and responded to the CTO thread.
That's where I got pissed. I upfront told him that hey! Calm your tiddies down. I know how to use Slack. I have used it since it was in the beta.
I have been in much much mucy bigger orgs and places more well structured than what you have here.
I told him on his face what the flaws where and how I felt a downgrade from where I am coming from.
The look on his face was priceless and he started sweating. Lol
Never again he'll school anyone.
I mean I understand if you are humble and genuinely guiding a new hire. But being cocky unnecessarily and shoving things down my throat without yourself knowing shit or know about the other person is purely asshole move.
Anyway, I am still upset about the scam. Fuck this world.9 -
thoughts on term insurance/life insurence/ health insurence/ other insurances of this sort?
I am new to adult life but i personally find them very sketchy and screaming of a scam?
- Like if I die right now, do i expect some 3rd party to whom i just started paying a few dollars per month to give my family 100x that amount immediately?
- firstly, how can i ensure this , i have just died and my family would be in shatters(I guess) , they won't be having some worldclass lawyers or mental/financial power to fight over a dead guy
- secondly am guessing they are all about specific ways of dying, current salary, whether the family can survive on their own without that insured guy gone, etc etc. so basically everything they could make to not shed some money. So why bother? I am currently in a situation where the family is working on 60-80% of my income. but even with me gone, they can survive if they want. its human nature of survival, that's what made us come out at the top of food chain. so doesn't that make the whole point of insurances moot?
- thirdly how can someone guarantee a fixed income 'after death' when my current income itself is not 'guaranteed' , when 'alive'? here comes another pandemic, or some recession, and behold, am fired from my job. the. how come those companies guarantee an income in such crisis? Last time i checked, it was just an ugly civil war between insurance companies and common people when covid suddenly hit fatally to a lot of families. these guys were coming up with new rules and legalities to get away from paying to the families of deceased.
health insurance does somewhat sound okay, but at the same time feels like even bigger scams. in a nutshell, every health policy is like : "we will cover 50-100% of any major operation/doctoral procedure that costs x amount and is prescribed by a doctor if you keep paying us 0.1x amount every month for your whole life"
I see 3 problems in this:
- PRESCRIBED BY DOCTOR? obviously a doctor is a godly person that can prescribe a genuine operation based on a person's situation, but this whole payment based on word of mouth screams of shadiness. if someone said that "hi you are a technical expert. we won't pay you directly but whenever you are going to work on something for someone, we will cover your fees and your tools's cost that you tell to that person" . nice, am now recommending aws's most expensive ec2 instance to every mf that comes to me for an frontend issue.
- why do we need to have such procedures that will cost so much? where is the concept of subsidiary? What is the point of having an awesome technology like CT scan or MRI when no person could afford it? I know even water comes at both Rs 20 and Rs 250 bottle, but the rs250 bottle is a luxary, not a necessity . if a few people want rs 250 bottle then they can have it, hell they can have it in a gold platted bottle and pay 2500. but the underlying material is available to all for affordable price(if not free), right?

Well that's all my little rant. I am intrigued by the business models of these fear mongering devil insurance companies. so would like to know your opinion on instances where these companies are correct and its beneficial to take an insurance6 -
Imagine a bitcoin wallet that doubles everything you send to it, but the real one, without a scam.
Transhumanism is just that. You sell your soul to it, and in return, you get a superior entity, albeit entirely different.
I feel like the god Odin hanging off Yggdrasil, sacrificing himself to himself and gaining an entirely new kind of power.1
