Its the XP installation. XP is better than Mac OS anyways... heck even vista is better than Mac OS... Anything Apple makes is rubbish...

No such thing as an iProgrammer :op The quality of your code is all that matters, which OS and hardware you use is irrelevant.

@Mitch377 as pixeltherapy said, it is up to personal preferance. I simply can't stand programing on anything from apple but if asked to I'll spend the time needed to learn to use the programs available and just code.
Sure, I'll probably feel uncomfortable all the way to the end of the code because it's not my environment, and I don't agree with apple's business model, but I'll be there to code no matter what

When coding it's not about Apple. It's Unix. It's just a great machine to code on.

@Mitch377 same. I can't agree with most Apple products for there cost but there laptops are just nice. For me they are great build quality, battery life, with the benefits of a highly supported OS for user software with the benefits of a Linux terminal. Windows works but requiring a tool for native ssh feels wrong, most Linux distros are fine but I actively also use Adobe cc suite so hence user supported software.

At the end it's all what you need and what you get used to.

@Mitch377 exactly. Don't care for Apple as a company. But unfortunately they are the only company that puts out a consistent and reliable product time and time again.

Look, they are expensive. Too expensive in fact. But I'd rather be overcharged for something that I know what I'm getting vs getting a deal on some cut rate laptop that already been discontinued.

If you can't afford one, or aren't lucky enough to have an employer willing to expense it, then that is unfortunate. But let's be real here man... Windows XP over Mac? You like that 4gb ram limit? Them security loopholes? I bet you love you some Sasser worm too don't ya?

@Mitch377 The problem is Apples proprietary business practices, where they first charge 99$/year for publishing a public app, and 299$/year to get a private app signed so it can run on iPhones.
And then they have these stupid UI and quality requirements - which also applies to PRIVATE apps.

Their computer architecture is not yet completely locked in, you could always disable Gatekeeper, but propably Apple will make Gatekeeper mandatory in the future, forcing ever developer to pay 99$/299$ fee, even if they don't want to distribute it. And forgot to menton, to do a private app you need a D.U.N.S. number. Good luck getting that as a individual without a company.

Ergo, you need to pay Apple to make a software to run on your computer in future. Stop paying - your software stops working.

Propably apple will change to "Computer as a service" where you have to pay high price for hardware AND pay monthly fee to be able to use it.

Hope Greedy Rotten Half-eaten Apple burn in hell.

@Mitch377 And this is stupid: why should you need to adhere to Apples dev policy for running something in your own computer/device/iPhone?

Then its no longer your device/computer?

Thats why Windows XP and Android is far better than ANYTHING Apple creates.
