Built my 1st ryzen 7 2700 desktop with RTX2070 using Black Friday deal. Also got a free copy of battlefield πŸ‘

@xaero it’s the first time I build a desktop pc. Never realised it’s so easy and the speed is amazing πŸ˜‰

Save your ears, buy quieter cooler :D

May I know the part list and cost?
I'm also planning to build my first 😁

@lamka02sk I ordered 3 noctua case fan. Haven’t receive them yet. AMD factory fan keeps my cpu around 40 to 60c

@sunfishcc wow, congrats. Would suggest onboard m.2 nvme ssd if not using. Which case?

@ajit555 Check! This board has build in heat sink for m2 ssdπŸ‘

So, here I am. First problem, none of the x86 Android emulator works πŸ₯Ί

@sunfishcc do those rely on virtualization? You need to enable that explicitly in the BIOS

This is awesome, what's the notebook's maker and model? Thank you!

@irene is it? I really want to see what real time ray tracing looks like
  • 1
    @m0rt1nHRist Alienware 15R1. Dell released R2 3 months after R1 released. So my one don’t have type C connector🀦‍♂️

@RememberMe android studio says it missing intel hardware acceleration. But the package it asked for doesn’t support AMD.πŸ₯Ί

@irene not exactly, take a look on YouTube battlefield ray tracing. The reflection is way more realistic when switch it on, which gtx 10 series couldn’t render at all, but huge drop in FPS😎 btw when I was in postgraduate school, there were students doing similar research on this topic.

@irene true. No matter how good graphics card I got, I still fall asleep after work πŸ₯Ί

A follow up. New fan installed. Rtx 2070 seems run very hot, around 70c, while cpu only 40c. Both stock clock speed. The evga 550w non-modular 80+gold PSU makes buzzy noise under load. Even the graphic card said recommend psu is 550w. I would NOT recommend anyone get a 550w psu. Simply not enough.

There’s no DXR option in battlefield V with my rig. Asked on reddit, people with RTX2070 seems experience the same issue....
    Give me that ray! 😭

@irene if there’s no real time ray tracing, I wouldn’t even install battlefield V 😀 it’s the only game support this tech

What case is that? Looks sexy

RTX2070? Don't bother with raytracing, performance is terrible: https://youtu.be/SpZmH0_1gWQ

@endor for early adaptor, it’s not about the performance at all.
  • 1
@segfault0xff phanteks p300, very cheap, while relatively solid build with glass panel, filter, build in Velcro at back for cable management, pretty much everything.
My complainants are psu shroud doesn’t have access for cables, only comes with 1 exhaust fan, and top vent only supports a 120mm fan
  • 1
@sunfishcc that's quite the price tag for an early adopter, imho.
Besides: what's the point of being an early adopter, if there's not much to adopt in the first place? Not to bring you down or anything, but the raytracing performance of the RTX2070 is so bad, it's like not having it there at all. Other than that, it's just an expensive 1080.
Cool idea, but I think nVidia should have worked on it for longer and come up with a better implementation, instead of rushing the release just to milk that cash from the preorders.

@endor 1080, 1080ti are no stock anywhere in New Zealand.
I actually had lil bit backstory on the ray tracing topic as I mentioned. There were few master students were doing similar topic when I studied postgraduate. So I kind interested in what this tech has became. BTW, I didn’t pick 3D related topic, rendering tech rolls out too fast.

@irene RTX is a strange series, 4 months, still no full lineup, neither mobile. Completely missed Xmas sale, meanwhile they are still releasing new model for 1060. 2070’s reference pcb is so short. It is crazy to ask for 499usd

Some bad news for this case. The max cpu height it supports should be within 160mm. Which is the exactly height of coolmaster, and Noctua 120mm tower fan. Can only consider aio cooler solutions nowπŸ₯Ί
