I was looking to purchase a VPS to host my stuff on. I've looked at DigitalOcean, but their packages seem rather expensive.
Is there a cheaper VPS provider? I'd like a machine with at least 2GB of RAM.

https://signaltransmitter.de is quite cheap, but only at the low end. At mid to high end, https://contabo.de has better prices.

Hmm, Signaltransmitter.de seems to offer way more for the price though.

@electron I have one already, but it's not enough.
The RAM is filled to the brim, the swap files are murdering the SD cards.
I had to get active cooling so it wouldn't overheat.

I can hear it suffering behind me, that's why I want to buy a VPS ^^

KVM or OVZ?
If you're OK with an European location take a look at Hetzner Cloud, especially their 2GB plan. Elif you prefer a server in the US or Asia, Vultr may offer the best servers for your money.
About Contabo: They are by far the cheapest low-end KVM VPS provider, but you may encounter more issues than with Vultr, Hetzner, DO or Netcup. For example, disk I/O can vary a lot depending on the slide you get and server workload. If you don't intend to use it for very important stuff, it offers the best cost effectiveness of all KVM server providers.

Civo are great and have a great api and developer focussed. Servers in U.K. £10 a month for 2gig 2core 50gb ssd and you get £150 to spend while it’s in beta. I’ve been using them for a while now as an early beta user I get £20 a month for life, that gets me 4gig, cores and 100gb ssd but could just as easily have 2 of the above instances or 4 single core 1 gig vms. never had an issue even when they upgraded all the stack and they sent me stickers and a small flask drink thing. There worth checking out

I do have referral invites for civo, after you spend 20 they give you 150 and me 50 on top of the 150 you get for signing up
