Will chromium based Edge actually be better than Chrome or the actual Chromium browser? 🤔🤔

    It could be better than Chrome if Microsoft doesn’t collect user data. And „better than Chromium“ is the wrong question because Chromium itself is actually just a runtime, not a browser. You build a browsers around this runtime.

    By Chromium web browser, I meant the one offered at chromium.org

    @cherkie amen to that!

    @Sumafu Chromium is also a browser - it's (essentially) Chrome without the closed source bits.

    I find edge much better for reader view mode and EPUB documents.

    @ajit555 so basically you say it works for everything else BUT being a browser? cuz' that's how i feel about all the M$ products

    @pitzyrulz it's a good decent browser with clean interface. But I stick to chrome for multiple profiles, bookmarks, saved passwords and extensions. But for reading text heavy html documents, I prefer edge. I have a widescreen 4k monitor so edge auto arranges the texts nicely in multiple columns in reader mode without any distractions. It has increased my reading speed very much as I glance large amount of text without scrolling. Also it supports voice reading natively, use it primarily for non tech documents.

    The usability of the actual browser aside, a world with Chromium-based Edge will be worse. Because monoculture.

    @d4ng3r0u5 But a dream for each web developer 😉

    We can just agree that it will at least be somewhat better than it is now. And more will bring more cohesion in web standard compliance which may be a good thing for developers, but at the same time might be a bad thing for innovating in the browser space.

    But I am no expert so it is just my 2 cents.🤷‍♂️

    @rEaL-jAsE that's literally the entire windows OS lol (everything being too big and designed for touch)
