I hope so too. It would make worldwide communication so much better. Of course not a direct change, but a transition period where 24h UTC is appointed as a second standard and provided alongside local time for a few years. That would give time for people who used the old system to adjust and actually see how the new time relates to what they're used to.

Always store as UTC, then convert to<>from local tz in client code.
But yeah, it still sucks

Timezones are okay but related functions are sucky.

And we haven't mentioned daylight saving time, gap years and gap seconds. Jeesh

That would much further complicate things.
