My main problem with programming on android phones(not for android) is it's keyboard, almost none of default layouts don't have the needed buttons(i.e. ; [ ] ( ) ...), I managed to find a good one "Hacker's Keyboard", 5 rows almost every button(even shift, ctrl and arrow keys). But here's the problem with this: it's buttons width is very low on portrait mode, on landscape, even if you're used to lanscape typing, you won't be able to see shit because it's covering most of screen.
"Hey, what about an external keyboard", well it's not totally a bad idea, but you would need a stand for your phone, and if it's connecting via usb and not bt, you have to buy a usb2[yourPort] convertion, besides I want to hold my phone while typing "How about you make you make your own bt/usb attachable mini keyboard for your phone.", Wow that's a very good idea, it would take maybe a year to make it, but maybe instead of making the whole thing myself I can buy a mini keyboard and make the attaching part myself, it can't be THAT hard, right? Need a 3D printer(√), need time(have alot of it), need to design it(no problem), now start... uhhh nevermind, who am I kiddin', I won't be able to make such a thing, just use that "Hacker's Keyboard".

@JackToolsNet I have a phone and I'm not gonna buy a new(Blackberry) phone from amazon which doesn't ship to my country, even if they do that, the phone's price is about 4x my monthly salary!

@Kreepy I just wanted to show you that there are phones out there with a keyboard.

    Perhaps you like this

@irene Yeah, that's the best option, but not gonna happen when I'm not home, besides if I code on my phone it'll be 100% for fun, it's not like of I don't do it I would lose anything.

    @Kreepy you earn under €100/month?!

@JackToolsNet I used to use a Sony XPeria X10 Mini Pro with Cyanogen - before that, I had a HTC Wizard - and before that, a Palm Tungsten C and an E5(I'm one of those "Use things until they're completely broken, then fix them and use them until you can't fix them anymore" guys in case you wonder).

Nice to see I wasn't the only one with this idea.

Nowadays though, I'd never even consider coding on a phone - the projects I'm working on these days are just too big/complex both hardware and code wise.

@ThomasRedstone I don't earn in Euro or Dollars, but when converted from my currency to usd it's about 150$.

@Kreepy ah, fair enough, freelancing may be for you, working for European or American customers can pay pretty well, while still being cheap for them

What about getting a tablet or a small laptop?

@electrineer @AL1L Thank you for your advice, but it was just a rant, I have a laptop which I rarely use because I rarely get out of my house...

Sell your phone, buy a cheap pc. It's worth it.

@Salim I have 3 computers and 1 laptop, give me reason to sell my phone to buy a cheap pc.

@Kreepy I thought you didn't have a pc to code on, so you are forced to code on a phone.

Why would you inflict that on yourself?
  • 1
@Salim Because I'm not home currently, and I love to code on almost any platform I find.

@irene Why the hell should I flirt with girls when I can do it with computers. :)
  • 2
@Kreepy practise on robots and slowly move to more and more human looking robots then real girls?
  • 3
@hasu practice on girls, then move to robots, and finally to real computers.
  • 2
@hasu He'll probably get scared off when he hits the uncanny valley
  • 2
@hasu Uhh, are you suggesting that I should start making robots and slowly reach lifelike female robots, or I practice on robots then after I become confident I would switch to real girls?

@irene those are people doing @electrineer's voyage, their uncanny valley is when their robots start looking too much like computers, but not enough.

    I'll see myself out
