Not sure if you are joking but it’s not how it works. You don’t choose to be gay. You either are or you are not. If you don’t feel good "being gay", then you aren’t gay.
-
@whimsical common knowledge I guess. I think it’s a very clear consensus among experts.
And it makes sense. You can’t choose what your body wants. You can only find out and choose to hide or ignore it if you feel like you should not accept what it wants because the society doesn’t accept it for example. -
@whimsical to make this more philosophical, it goes even farther than that.
You can’t choose what you want and you can’t make you want something that you don’t want or make you not want something that you want.
It goes beyond physical needs and desires.
Let’s say you don’t like the taste of wine (😁).
Can you make yourself change that so that you like it? Most certainly not.
You like programming. Can you choose to not like it? No. At most, you can hide it and act as if you don’t like it. -
@Lensflare That's not how it works 😅
There are papers that show a high relation between male child sexual abuse victims and turning out to be gay.
The human mind is complex, but there are certain triggers and behaviour forming patterns that are simple, which can be conditioned, including sexual ones.
However, that's all to say it's complex, and it is possible to manipulate it, even more so when you bring in hormone manipulation and other forced conditioning (there is also a whole fetish around it).
Or he just meant he tried it and found he didn't like it ;P -
Hazarth91461dJust to add to previous comments. There's also usually some self-discovery going on. You can be unsure of your orientation and experiment. You might think you are gay for a while, until you meet an experience that negates that. Emotions are complex and sometimes you can feel confusing things towards people, especially if there is some sort of stress or trauma involved.
Being "gay" may be a binary label, but the self discovery is a Journey.
(Which is why It was so annoying when everyone glorified homosexuality for a while, and still do with that whole pride month bullshit. it made an already confusing journey even more confusing and entangled with politics and peer pressure) -
@BordedDev I’m not saying that you are born gay or not gay and it can’t change later.
It can change, but it changes without your will being involved in it. For example, you can’t change to be not gay just because you want to, to conform to society. You can’t change it, only hide it.
And as @Hazarth said, part of it is discovery.
You discover what you are and you can say that "you changed" as the result of that.
It’s all a bit ambiguous because of the fuzziness of human language.
Also it touches on free will and that is a very ill defined notion in the first place. -
BordedDev278522h@Lensflare It can change without your own will, I'm reminded of the stories of dad's "discovering" they're suddenly gay later in life ;P
But also through a personal anecdote of watching/listening to podcasts while scrolling through "images" of the fairer sex. As you can imagine, I stopped doing that XD -
NotJeckel14819hMaybe you could turn bi or something, but once you've been gay, you are gay. You can't unsuck a dick.
-
jestdotty656118hhad a roommate and when high he wanted to suck dick but when sober he couldn't
there's also rumours on the Internet that it's some kind of parasite infection
... also another group of people all took MDMA and sucked each others' dicks, repeatedly. I don't know what all their orientations were before but probably not that gay
... I once did a drinking contest with two 280 lb men and rum and by the end of it I wanted to bone them both and that was wild. one of them was sooooo gross. I came out of that and I was horrified
I was gay for a while, honestly, I don’t think it’s for me. Being straight feels so much better
