now YouTube is giving me one of those disclaimer notes under a computerphile video saying "dead Internet theory" is a conspiracy theory...

what. how does that even make sense. so I guess we have to pretend there are no bots on the internet or something now

That's kinda sick indeed. But I have to say, what is a bot these days. We call actual people bots too. I think it's just none of their business to say what's a theory or not. Like if they can judge that any better.

I really hate that a lot of online discussion is clearly AI written (or AI assisted). I'm not sure if I'm reading something that is written by a bot or written by someone that is afraid to make typos and need to waste a lot of water to partake in an online discussion.

YouTube is pretty retarded. Maybe because it targets millions of users which are largely retarded as well.
Otherwise I can’t explain the need for warning labels like "This video contains topics about the Flat Earth theory".
As if users need to be warned and made aware of it and couldn’t figure out and evaluate by themselves.

The dead internet theory stands on more solid ground than any claim of any religion.
And yet youtube doesn’t warn you about videos which contain religious bullshit.

hmm, wonder if Youtube or its owners might have an incentive to disenfranchise the dead internet theory /s

!a big fan of those disclaimers. Shouldn't be necessary, yet there they are. That's what happens when people target the lowest common denominator, instead of telling them 'learn more' or 'you need to get better'.

YouTube keeps flagging me as a bot and telling me to login. I wrote a frontend for yt-dlp that rotates through various proxies so I can just download the video and not use their shitty web interface:

@djsumdog I‘ve been using Video downloader browser plugins for years. They work pretty well.

@Lensflare Video downloader is great, indeed. /* Assuming you meant 'Video DownloadHelper'. */

I've also been using the '4K Video Downloader Plus' for a few months, now, which is another decent choice.

@djsumdog I have a similar problem when being connected to the more popular countries, like UK... which sucks. I had to switch to some alternative one, so if you have a VPN subscription, you need to keep reconnecting to different servers to find the one that hasn't been flagged by the YT, yet.

...well, either that, or yes, using some other proxies should work, too.

@D-4got10-01 I don’t know their names from the top of my head.
Currently I‘m using 2 different ones because sometimes one doesn’t work and I have to use the other.

@Lensflare 'Currently I‘m using 2 different ones because sometimes one doesn’t work and I have to use the other.'.

Yeah. Same reason I'm using two solutions, as well.
