With Linux in the tags... The point of Linux wasn't to replace Unix, but rather to replace a shitty Unix clone with a better version.

620hun83706y@filthyranter Linux was just a hobby project of Linus Torvalds, he had no plans with it whatsoever. It wasn’t the replacement of anything. GNU/Linux became so big because it was a non-proprietary OS that Unix users could adapt to without effort.
