kivisi7096yI am using 2 phones. - because I develop apps for both platforms.
1. iPhone 6s+
2. Samsung s7 edge -
hasu23706ySamsung 9+
Reasons: Storage space, Camera, Dex, Cpu, previous good experiences.
I know it's expensive af. The only reason I could get one is that my old one died (after 5 years) and I finished my B.Sc. So I got it for graduation. -
OnePlus 6t
Big amoled screen
Huge battery
Near stock Android with neat OOS features
Easy to unlock and root (fastboot doesn't void your warranty on an 1+)
OnePlus provides fast updates and stock images to download
Pretty inexpensive for the tech that's in it (snapdragon 845, 8gb ram and 128gb storage/rom)
Treble support
And the most important part: it has a huge community = many custom roms to be expected
And if you ever brick it Qualcomm got you covered :) snapdragons are goddamn unbrickable! -
@Charon92 @Charon92 I had a Samsung Galaxy young then a Nexus 4 then a Nexus 5 ( for a long time until all sensors died a month ago RIP my dear hammerhead :| ) and now I'm on a 6t and I'm loving it

kivisi7096y@irene and some weird things like have the camera shaking right after you take a shot. A bug on most 6s+ iphones :-/
-
vane112806y@irene probably unfortunate explanation of patching spectre / meltdown during secret period.
Well it’s my first ios phone, got android for 6-7 years 🙂
I bought it cause it’s small, black, metal and was decent when I was buying it.
If apple won’t make anything interesting and small when this phone stop working I would switch to android or whatever would be better at the point of time. -
Kaji22626y@irene Re: Slowing of Phones—I seem to recall one version of iOS (pretty sure it was 7) *worked* on the original iPhone 4, but slowed it down dramatically because it was far too heavy for it.
While the PR optics are obviously bad either way, that item always came across as a controlled method of slowing things down to ensure a consistent level of performance, versus an unpredictable level of performance because of possible crashes or other bugs from being more than the model in question was designed to handle. For me, anyway. -
Oukitel K10. (without Google stuff on it, just Android).
Because: big screen and a huge battery. -
vane112806y@irene They admitted it during secret period after people started complain about performance problems. I followed the timeline.
-
vane112806y@irene I would love to see any smartphone with paid support of software updates. I’d rather care about stability then about trying “new” things.
But everything is about volume and sales. People trying to protect their businesses so lots of regulations and money involved so hard to make something decent without couple of millions $$$ today. -
Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia)
Why? It was $30 back in 2014~2015 (flip phones before that), and bought enough for the 'whole' family (of 4).
Never a problem. -
zankar20756yOneplus 5t
Probably the best bang (and it is a bang) for the buck
If you decide for the oneplus goodness you should get the 6t though -
620hun83706yiPhone XS because I was tired of Android manufacturers trying so hard to copy Apple. You might as well just buy Apple at this point. I have no regrets, definitely my best phone ever, and I’ve had the first 2 Pixel XLs.

aprzn1231076yiPod touch 6. I got an apple gift card and needed a phone like thing but this was cheap and does things.
-
hasu23706yTo defend samsung a bit: my previous one was the galaxy s4 zoom. Loved it and it lived for 5 years, which is a lot for a smartphone apperently seeing some other timelines here.
Also: a blackberry smartphone with a keyboard exists. Did anyone try that? -
joshsg3176yXiaomi Mi Mix 2
Reasons: I wanted something that wasn't a Samsung, that was cheap(ish), and that had looks to at least compete with the Iphones around me all the time. Ease of rooting/unlocking was a huge plus as well
