nibor48776yKudos to you for gaming the system. At least you used your own knowledge to program the cli. I bet many of your fellow students just took pictures of their lecture notes.
Seriously though, when I was at uni (before mobile phones, nevermind smart phones) we were only allowed non-programmable calculators in exams. How can a lecturer think it is a good idea to allow what is basically a computer? -
LuxARTS16636y@Robinha Because in the real world engineers has access to computers. 30 years ago, an engineer had a calculator in his pocket/backpack/toolbox.

nibor48776y@LuxARTS but in the real world every engineer in a company should have access to the same resources. An exam doesn't accurately test the students' knowledge if different students have access to different resources

Fjord816yI don't remember any uni maths exams I actually needed a calculator? Aren't they all just arbitrary constants?

I've got a teacher (math) in the university that let us use our phones as a calculator in the exam but without sim card and of course no wifi. I've spent a few hours programming a very ugly CLI app which let me calc and show me the steps of every type of exercise.
Another probe that programming can save your ass.
The exam wasn't difficult but basically they tell you to solve a few problems applying different methods, that hasn't advantage from others.
