Has anyone used github as a database for their applications ? 🤔

    Depends, what do you mean with database? Im storing CMS content there for my github pages things

    Unix pass command uses git (not necessarily github) as an easy way to synchronize its database on multiple machines. it just stores encrypted passwords as files in a directory tree. Pretty clever, but also would never put on github, even though they are encrypted.

    @tokumei Could be fun to have a dummy version on GitHub that pushes "fake" (as in "not in use") passwords randomly.

    That has been done before. I seem to recall an issue where the Enki app cause some issue at GitHub a few years back. Everytime a user used the app it would push and pull user's profile data to their own branch on the repo.

    The tree grew to large and caused some trouble.

    I once used marshnellos, a camera and color recognition as a db.a burnt black marshmello is 0 and the white uncooked ones were 1
