I finally did it! I met my goal! After 6 months and a ton of interviews I finally found a new job! Good pay, good culture and actual options for career paths!
I was so sick of working were I wasn't growing or being valued. I can rant enough about what a weight off my mind this is!

Nothing quiet like the feeling of choking an interview. 😞
Related note. Trying to program with 8 people staring "over your shoulder" (even virtually) is. the. worst.8 -
That's it. I'm done. I'm out. Tired of a team and manager who refuse to make me feel like part of the team.
Officially started looking for a new job today.

My manager: Hey if you are stuck don't be afraid to go ask the team in charge of a module for help.
Also my manager when I dare to ask a team when stuck: I feel like we are wasting this other teams time. You should probably try to figure this out on your own.
Damned if I do, Damned if I don't.

My manager: Hey don't be afraid to ask the team for help if you feel blocked on a task.
Also my manager when I ask for help: I think you need to understand the task better before you ask for help.
WTF! Make up your mind. Do you want me to make progress or not? Freaking sucks being the new guy. 😑3 -
Do you ever feel like you can't stop putting your foot in your mouth after joining a new team? 😬 The struggle these last couple weeks has sucked!2

Nothing like working for a company who's "stocks have never been better" but then stiffs you on your annual bonus 😒
Surprised, no. Disappointed, you bet.2 -
Just found out I passed the coding interview phase. Next step is a "live" (covid adapted) whiteboard interview.
I haven't had to do one of these before. Anyone have any advice on these?1 -
Had my first official coding interview for a "real" developer position! Really is a different experience. So much to do and so little time.
Overall I feel like it went well. Hope I get some good news soon 🤞 -
Company: Hey finish off that degree and we will hire you as a "real developer".
Me: Hey I finished my degree and I applied for that internally posted developer position. How about making me a "real developer" now.
Company: ...
Company: ...
Finally replied today with generic email template thanking me for my interest and applauding me for my skills but sadly informing me I don't meet the requirements for the position.
W.T.F 😡
I think I might be done with this company.11 -
That's it, it's over, I'm done! I'm officially a graduate! I have my paper and I'm out!
Goodbye preditory USA college related companies and practices I won't miss you!
I swear If I ever have to hear the name Pearson again.....8 -
So I get it is a trying time right now as most people continue to adapt to a physical distancing world. But it is so frustrating that some teachers can't figure out how to start a video meeting 😑
Makes it really hard to be tested on lectures you can't watch.
Also WebEx sucks! -
Everyone: Keep people safe and work from home!
My power company: We were going to turn off your power for maintenance but now we won't to help people work from home.
Also my power company today : Hope you didn't need your power to work from home. Good luck with that.

Took the weekend to finish my phase out of Windows on my desktop and laptop.
Finally going Linux full time!
Goodbye constant forced reboots, awful updates, and lost files!5 -
Co-workers: "But we have always written our scripts in Perl"
Me: "Nope not a good reason to keep using it."12 -
Finally had a weekend to myself to work on some projects. I got my hands on a Sonoff switch. Did a manual flash of some new firmware and got it setup on my crappy old washer to do a little DIY smart home upgrade.
Always nice to get to do a personal project 😊 Just wish I had time to tinker more.3 -
Our parent company nixed our entire QA team last year and now they wondering why our product releases are so unstable lately.
Who needs QA anyways. Their solution is to just stop writing code with bugs in it.5 -
Just had someone branch off my repo of some class assignments I did last year.
What are they up to.....
Better not be doing what I think he's doing.5 -
Nothing like trying to fix a product breaking bug in someone else's code that just ran off on vacation for a week. 😒1

Even this Google Survey knows the pecking order for voice assistants 🤣 Cortona gets a dedicated line while Bixby gets the "Other" line.7

Screw AIX! More importantly screw the IBM designer that though cache batteries were a good way to monitize their platform to help validate the service contracts. I guess it "works", but at what cost?
Just lost the last 4 business days going down this rabbit hole with a customer's server.
Edit: Quick note, yes, the customer is on track for a migration soon.8
