@qwerty77asdf the most fucked up Browser, too dominant, rapes every piece of ram, and when I create a site with normal style attributes chrome is the one that keeps getting fucked my style up

    @theKarlisK good point!

    Can you elaborate?

IE should definitely die.. As a Front-End Dev I hate Internet Explorer.

    2. Make sure is does not come back in any new form or name

@SteffTek then your css is wrong. Chrome is probably the easiest browser to support.

@musician I don't want to support chrome, I want to support all the browsers

And I don't think width and height are much different between browsers.

I think the problem was that my child was at width 100% and was overgoing (is this a word?) it's parent and got it's width from the body

@SteffTek You haven't checked the memory usage of FF Quantum, have you? It's the same damn thing - everything uses a lot of ram nowadays.

Also, typically, if you're using a reset/normalize stylesheet of some sort you'll get uniform results on all evergreen browsers. Things are not like they were a decade ago, don't exaggerate to excuse your faults.

@Alice I still can't use FF on my MBP, it leaks memory on macOS, so it ends up hogging more ram and battery than any other browser...

For a dev its good if chromium gets implemented all over. How ever I don't like a singel company to own most of the market tho.

Somewhere along the line chrome went from fast and low ram usage to semi slow and ram hog.
(Been using chrome since it’s birth)
Firefox and edge haven’t done much better over the years and still come close to hogging just as much if not more resources at times.

also the more JS being used on a site the more ram being used, watch a site with infinite loops with settimeout() set to 200ms and that ram is going sky high, but I suppose we can’t tell JS devs to consider resources when all they care about is adding more JS to things.

The web has gone from “information” to “entertainment” and everything needs to entertain the user to make them use your website even if they are just reading a couple of paragraphs.😪

What about Chromium in your opinion? I use that myself sometimes (although Firefox wins it big time for me), chrome can die indeed, though.

@linuxxx Opera uses chromium... I guess it's ok

@SteffTek Edge, Vivaldi and some others use it as well haha.

What's your view on Chromium vs Chrome?
  • 2
@linuxxx I think the chromium project was (yes was) a good thing. Webkit is really nice to work with. But googled bloated the hell out of it.

I only use it at work, but in my spare time I only use FF and DuckDuckGo
