From their website: "building from source can be a path of frustration even for seasoned developers."
- Yeah, that's because your build chain is complete shit. Building from source should NOT be a path of frustration. -
ALSO - what's the worth of open source if people can't compile? How would they check that the binaries even come from the supplied sources?
-
First things first: I totally agree with you! Building from source should be manageable.
However, I saw this at the end of your issue:
--------
(Fine with me, i'm not installing another package manager JUST FOR YOU)
--------
Look, I know you were frustrated, but that wording is highly aggressive. I'd be pissed, too, if someone ends an issue description like that.
However, closing the issue right away was definitely the wrong way to go. You didn't want to use an alternative package manager at all.
What an asshole... -
endor56666ySo they would rather provide a "special" version of pacman just for debian-based distros, rather than just compile their own package for those same distros? How retarded is that? And how dumb do you have to be not to see the issue with that logic?
-
Parzi86636y@Yamakuzure that's true, but they banned me from their forums for the exact same reason (not wanting to use pacman) so my temper was a bit short...
