Hey guys, my boyfriend is in the path of becoming a video game developer, do you have ideas of what would be a good gift for him? :)

    A Professional Software License
    ex: IntelliJ, Visual Studio, Etc

@wowotek you said Professionell, so why do you list Visual Studio? 😉

Time... lots and lots of time. Or something that slows down time.

Pink color hair dye. Because he will need that to fit in if you ever want him to be a success, or to just keep his career.

@Sumafu i'm generalizing her as a non dev. Listing VS in a professional software list maybe only going to be make sense to only us.

If he is a beginner, you can perhaps purchase some online courses for him?
I know udemy has several courses that prepare you for the Unity certificate test.
    A cool mouse/keyboard is also a nice gift :)

@wowotek Cool! Thanks :) I will look for that... Still, if you guys have more ideas I’d appreciate it :)

@NickyBones Thanks!!! A beginners course sounds like something he would really like actually 🤔 I’m going to the mall so I will try to find a cool mouse, too :)

@codelikeagirl I think this is really for absolute beginners:
    https://www.udemy.com/unitycourse2/

And this he can do once he gains some experience:
    https://coursera.org/specialization...

    Good luck! :)

Get him a whip he can flog himself with so he’ll be ready for the lifetime of pain and suffering that awaits him as a game developer. I say that only partially jokingly, working in the video game industry is hell from everything I’ve ever read, games are fun, making games isn’t.

@cursee He is so important! I gave him the Wacom, two courses in Udemy and a portable coffee maker 😍 He loved it!

@LinuxTerm IMHO, Unity is more suited for beginners. I never did say that Unity is better.

A significant other who picks up 3D modeling so they can create sample assets for them ;)

Not kidding. You’ll learn a skill for yourself AND it’s a gift for your BF. Win win.

Or you can buy him the game engine architecture book. I think it was written by the devs at Naughty Dog who are leading experts.
