I've used Lister for such log files.

Use Corel wordperfect.

Obvs. VI is best. But sublime will handle these big files if you just need a GUI.

its a tracker server, it gets ~1.5 mil req/hour and it was my task to optimise it because it couldn't handle the requests at around 0.8m/req/h. We were using php to parse every request, but with the help of a system admin i remade it so it would load a static page instead of parsing every request, and I'm parsing the apache log for all the get's every hour with php,a few optimisation tweaks and sql insert concat methods. It's starting to bog down again because of how many concurrent connections it has.

I often open 2gb binaries with notepad++, sometimes even greater files, I wonder why it tells you it is too big oO
