Sr. Management gives talk about leadership. What he/she doesn't understand is that leadership is like Fight Club.

The first rule of leadership is that you do not talk about leadership.

The second rule of leadership is that you DO NOT talk about leadership!

Try as they might, training programs and management grooming routines just bely the fact that great leaders are born, not made.

I tend to disagree. The fact is that leadership comes not from those talks but mostly from being useful, relatable and able to communicate and evaluate situations or people effectively. Training in those things can help.

I agree that training sharpens the tool, but it does not bestow the charisma and trust required to be a great leader unto the trainee.

The trust is built when you show that your tools are sharp. The charisma is not that important for me. I value way more knowing that I can trust his competence and goodwill.

@bahua @Pickman Both of you are right. You can't groom someone into being a great leader but to can expose a person to tools that bring out the best in them.

The real problem is that some people don't realize that just because they find themselves in a leadership position, it does r mean they are a great, or even good, leader. Then you have the situation where those people are trying to groom leaders.
