Fuck linux and fuck nvidia... I am dual booting my laptop with win10 and manjaro, but I really want to be able to completely switch to manjaro and get rid of windows. The only problem I have is that it's literally fucking impossible to install the divers for my 1050ti properly. I've looked at several forums where people were having similar issues, I've watched youtube videos, I've tried everything but I can never get it right, something is always fucked. I don't even know where I should look for help...

    Why is it so fucking hard to make a program like geforce experience for linux where I could install the drivers with ONE FUCKING CLICK? I shouldn't have to be a fucking quantum rocket scientist from spacex to be able to install a fucking driver.

    @SparkyTD does your laptop have hybrid graphics? which model

    @erandria Yup. Intel UHD + nvidia.

    @SparkyTD I understand your frustration,

    the hybrid graphics thing seems a bit finnicky and relatively new and changing, so it's natural that shit will break in linux

    ihave a 1050ti laptop on manjaro too and it works fine, I think I had to set something for it to work but can't remember what. are you using the optirun command for games?

    you know what linus thinks of nvidia though

    @SparkyTD
    I suppose it wouldn't be that hard for Nvidia, they just don't want to.
    They hate the open-source community like few hardware distributors do.
    I mean look,
    Intel-hd works with the default xorg-drivers and amd developes their open-source-drivers themselves.
    Just Nvidia likes to fuck us as hard and brutal as they can.

    @erandria Yes I was testing it with 'optirun glxgears' but it says that it failed to load the drivers, even with bumblebee installed.

    Do you mind switching to debian based distro? Pop OS from system76 comes with preinstalled drivers and get updates much sooner than other debian based distros. You can really easely change which graphics cards you're using. Checkout their site it is advertised there!

    Okay, after about 30 hrs of suffering and probably more than 20 reinstalls, I gave up. I will extend the win10 partition back and walk back into Billy G's bloated prison. Fuck it.

    @Nanos Most of the times, for me it is as easy as downloading geforce experience and clicking on 'express install'

    @Nanos It's cool that nvidia is a great company and I can do the same on linux. Oh wait. There os no GE for linux and nvidia can suck my middle ball.

    Only Pop_OS worked for me out of the box
