Sigh. This again.

We have Windows users complaining all the time about having their settings reset for each update. Then again, I don't remember default applications on Linux not breaking as soon as you are looking the other way. Why do I have to clarify that I don't want to open text files in LTSpice, or that nobody should ever want to launch first Wine, then Chromium for every PDF file?

    Wine? What?

    Every time I try to open a jpg in firefox, debian wants to launch IE via wine to open it. Haven't succeeded in fixing this yet. 😡

    @Root ik a solution:

    Use Windows aka the best got dang OS there is, I tell you what.

    (Read that in a Hank Hill voice to get the full effect. Makes it 10x better in my opinion lol)

    The real issue here is that you have internet explorer installed. Fix it.

    yeah, that behavior is annoying.. you can fix that behavior: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.ph...

    I also hate that behavior, it even got to the point that xdg-open failed opening a jpg.

    @electrineer: It comes with Wine by default if I'm not mistaken. At least I don't think I have deliberatly installed it.

    @roger: Thanks! Didn't think of this solution.

    It would seem that all OSs suffer from "default application-itis"

    I've never used MacOS but I assume that's probably fucked in it's own way too.
