Would it sound bad if I said I leave because of technical debt to recruiter or my company?

Okabe Rintaro says yeah it is never cool to say bad things about other companies. Your recruiter will believe you will say similar things about them when you leave. Or they might think "Why then did you not help with that debt? That's a challenge, but you're a quitter..." If necessary, try to convey it in a nice bullshitty manner.

Hououin Kyouma on the other hand believes that's nonsense! Hit them with the truth in the face! Mad Scientists never sugarcoat stuff!

    *Evil Buahahahahahahahaha*

I wouldn't consider it bad if the company didn't address the problem with proper planning and resources, and if the technical debt is an issue.

I would consider it bad (as your employer) if you are just escaping a nasty job/responsibility.

But in this last case, hey, you have the absolute right to leave the fucking boring job and add the pleasure of telling them

@Kyouma @deviloper this didn’t come from me, and they just don’t care, as soon as a project is done, there’s no refactoring or cleaning up, you just got assigned to something else and this keeps on piling up everytime someone leaves. Plus I have to code in vdi

@devTea I can imagine how bad this is. I believe it your right to strive for better working conditions. Just make sure you don't make them look like utter garbage I would say...

@devTea anyway you decide whether to tell them what you feel directly to their face. If you can afford that, and if it's a big release for you, go.

Otherwise, if that could damage you, just leave saying that it was wonderful to work for them, go home and write a rant...

Turn it positive: I want to join a company with a culture of continuous improvement
