I've found a better job offer; shorter distance, but salery is low, not that is a big issue tbh.

What is the right approach to quit your job?

Or to say, nicest way to avoid burning any bridges.

    Depends how long you've been there. And how long your commute is currently. If only there for 5 mins don't expect to be invited back.

    by telling a story
    but actually don't
    think about it this way: it's just a contract between your exploiter and you, who is selling his workforce for the highest bidder. Nothing sentimental if you want to revoke that agreement.

    @heyheni Careful, that sounded almost Marxist...

    Not that I disapprove, of course.

    Good observation @Iris-Theodora that's because I've read "Das Kapital". Nothing wrong with reading a book from a world famous economist / historian.

    @heyheni Of course not. Who could possibly object to reading and critically analysing the work of an important thinker and then applying their insights to the modern world?

    @Iris-Theodora uh wat?

    "careful that's marxism"
    "it is marxism"
    "ok marxism is ok"

    @jesustricks My political leanings are definitely well to the left, but I'm told that it's not good to mention this in polite company.

    The initial comment was meant to be ironic. Of course, that's hard to get across via text.

    depends on the priorities, if the only two differences are travel time and money ( which I doubt )... choose what you need more.

    If you have enough money now but are spending 2hr/day in trafic jam, I would switch

    Just write out a nice letter. it doesn't have to be long. Just one or two paragraphs is fine. Say that for various reasons you have decided to resign from your position. Give an effective date, preferably at least 2 weeks from the time you give your letter. Sign the letter and hand it to your boss. It helps to say that you will value the time you had there and the things you learned and such. But in general, be polite but be clear that your mind is already made up.
