My ISP randomly decided to double my internet speed from 100 mbps to 200 mbps.

I'm kinda interested to see why. Idk if they're gonna do this then snatch it away in a couple months, then come at with an offer for the same speed but more expensive, or what exactly.

We shall see.

Or you're simply tripping. Did you do drugs today?

@-ANGRY-CLIENT- they sent me a letter in the mail and an email informing me of said increase.

    Not tripping just yet 😂

i feel like only in the u.s. you've to be constantly afraid to be cheated. Just enjoy your new internet speed. Technology advances so does the data traffic.

The FBI requested more bandwidth to dump your harddrive quicker

@heyheni Agreed. I recently received an email from my ISP saying that they increased the upload speed from 200 Mb/s to 600 Mb/s, and I didn't think much of it. They can't increase the price without having us signing a new contract anyway so...

It could be a hardware upgrade in the network at the ISP. We sometimes bump customers' speeds if it's a cost reduction on our end (crazy but true). If the capacity is unused then why not do something good for your customers? It can also happen if you have an unsynchronised speed (i.e. 100/10) but then your down speed probably wouldn't change, just the upload speed.

yes wrote about that here last year that more bandwidth is cheaper for telcos. https://devrant.com/rants/1447185/...

@M1sf3t they dead ass call me 2-5 times a week asking me if I want Spectrum TV.

I've blocked a few of the numbers lmao

I'm looking to see if there's any fine print. There's not any on the email, and I can't find the letter.

@M1sf3t "How great it must feel to be in constant fear of getting fucked over by everything around you..."

Sorry you have to deal with that. I certainly couldn't.
