that was a while ago, back when 99% of the developers could write a site from scratch. now it's down to 40% 😢

@jckimble 9 out of 10 people who apply for a job at our company can't even write a loop that counts from 1 to 10. True story.

However, they call themselves senior developers since they all have years experience in installing WordPress themes and configuring them.

@kanduvisla I believe it, the last guy I talked to said "I removed all my code from github cause it's not secure to leave code on there". after that I explained to him why that was the biggest crock of shit I ever heard, thanked him for his time, and told my business partner we weren't going to hire anybody else until I got caught up enough to make an anonymous code test before an app could even get to him. cause I was the one that had to suffer when they didn't know what they were talking about

I remember those days. It was really tough. Back then I started with VB6 and I had no books. I had to look into to samples code how to do things. Few months later I found the VB6 for dummies in a store but it was quite expensive for teenager me, so until my birthday I went to the store sneaked a peek or two looking for specific thing, only to realize, when I actually got the book, I've knew 90% of what was in there. Few days ago I wrote a complete complicated Powershell script (client wanted Powershell for some reason) which parses and modifies XMLs based on some values and sends emails with attachments purely by using Stackoverflow and Microsofts documentation. The best thing was, I knew nothing about Powershell :D

@arekxv that brings back memories. Because I was the only 12 yo kid who constantly loaned the big fat Turbo Pascal 6.0-book at our local library.
