    There is only one excuse:
    Initialisation list in C++

    save the line!

    You people make me sick

    According to the convention.

    Otherwise: new line

    C gods will be dissatisfied.

    @daemonAD I can see that , but there are not that many by looking at the hits on ++ button.

    @BlackMagic I can't edit it now , while you use Facebook how many programmers or developers do you make contact with on your fb post !!

    Below!
    {
    Need some space between those
    lines!
    }

    I wish I could "double ++" this post. Haha
  • 2
    I hit ++ purely for the Big Lebowski reference. I start my brackets on the next line. I feel like they line up more cleanly. Just my opinion though :D
  • 7
    I'm just leaning Java and put the { on a new line - mainly 'cause it helps me match up and keep an eye on the braces to make sure I've not missed one!

    @feynman you my friend, will go far in Java development. 👌
  • 1
    Well yes, since prototypes have no body. It's only at definition you use {.
    (unless you mean a language I don't know)

    @feynman matching is easy: match the definition.
  • 2
    save even more space! PUT EVERYTHING ON THE SAME LINE!

    foo(){statement; statement; statement}
  • 0
    @tisaconundrum yeah! go to The extremes! loose all spaces and new lines
  • 2
    the standards depend per language.

    the last time i used php, it followed psr1/psr2 standards which puts the braces below.

    but java standard is same line.

    well, doesn't really matter much to me as long as use is consistent throughout the project.

    My colleague writes it on the next line. :(

    He also does not use white space at all in his statements leading to solid masses of unreadable text.
  • 1
    @Knossos spaghetti master?
  • 1
    No so much spaghetti, just each individual line is packed without white space
  • 1
    @Knossos you mean function calls, parameters just on one line with no spaces
  • 2
    @Knossos just use a formater to make it how it should be

    I got practically screamed at for this, I felt so bad until I realized that's all he was mad about and then im just like *facepalm*

    I just do something what feels good. Every hour it can change. Is something like generating a random number. 😌

    I.
    Don't.
    Care.

    As long as it's consistent
