I understand we are devs and allowed to wear what we want to a certain extent, but why must people wear flip flops. I don’t want to see/smell your feet for 8 hours

Ah, you see we *used* to wear socks and sandals for that reason, but the fashion police kept calling us out on it, so now we just stink them out 😉

I have never smelt feet from people wearing flip flops. If their feet stink without having worn leather non breathable shoes first then they stink full stop.

I never understood the whole casual push in the tech world.. it’s so unprofessional... bring back the black pants, white shirts and ties ... khakis, polos and button downs are also sufficient. IMO ...

@QuanticoCEO I dig professional attires, but I want to be comfortable, no I will not wear flip flops. But I will wear good looking and not worn the fuck out jeans(slim fit) and a nice polo.

Black pants, shoes and shirts with ties seems like way too formal. I will wear that only if they add an extra 30k to my paycheck.

i can't really say shit since I find people's feet disgusting and gross. But to be fair(and it had already been said before) the only way feet do smell(unless one has something like a fungus) is if the feet in question was sweating inside of a shoe. Flip flops are a no go on the workplace man

@AleCx04 so your view is your attire is linked to your paycheck... and how are you not comfortable in formal attire... it’s formal because it’s tailored to you.. it should fit perfectly.. thus you should be comfortable.. it makes you look good.. AND I guarantee your confidence and outlook will increase .: people will look at you differently .. etc.

Attire matters .. how you present yourself means a lot and appearance says so much.

I use todo the nice jeans and polo or button down but I started getting more respect, responsibilities, promotions etc. when I changed my look. One dress for success.. 2 dress for the job you want.. 3 you’ll get noticed by upper management more.. they won’t blow you off as just another dev.. they will respect your professional opinion and ask for your input more.. thus moving up the latter..

Thus getting your extra 30k paycheck..

They even walk around with shorts and barefeet.

They are fucking clowns. From me the boss demands a suit shirt, good lookong pants and elegant shoes, because I need to look professionell for our clients.

Yea sure, when clients pass one of our infra clowns, professionality dies 🤯

And the sad thing, they earn double of my Salary 🤬.

@QuanticoCEO I dig your advice my man and I agree with it but I already know myself. I am definitely not comfortable with formal attire, never have been and never will. And I do not link it to money no, it was a way of saying that I do not need to use it, I am merely referencing that I will wear what I consider uncomfortable for extra money :P
As in "I would for +$30k".

@AleCx04 thank you, and I don’t want it to seem cliche but I once said the same thing you said, and think... I thought formal attire was uncomfortable, especially ties... omg I hated ties... and I believed I was confident, and shit like that.. but then one day I was looking for a change, something different... said fuck it... I cut my hair short but stylish, shaved my beard, bought new glasses, and went and bought a professionally tailored suit, and a few shirts, pants and the whole Shabang.. it was like day and night difference How I was treated how I viewed myself... unbelievable.

3 years later I’m the lead embedded software engineer for our division, meet with suppliers, travel a lot. AND moonlight my own company.

@QuanticoCEO I will take your advise to heart. To be real honest with you a nice tailored suit does sound really nice. Maybe that is the reason why I don't normally wear formal attire, tailored to me would be way different.
