Had a dyslexic girl on my team doing Javascript for a few weeks, it was brutal to see her struggle with finding the errors the typing caused and even point them out to her when helping. She eventually quit our team and joined a Java team.

Anyone here with dyslexia doing programming? What language and what is your greatest challenges compared to your colleagues apart from the obvious?

How is Java better for a dyslexic person than JavaScript

That's what I'm trying to find out. Better intellisense? Compiler warnings?

Linter / good IDE may have helped a bit. There's also a font that is allegedly easier to read for individuals with dyslexia.

I'm fortunate enough to not have it, just throwing these things out there with the hope it helps someone.

    Hi,

I have dyslexia. I am coding in Python and never really have problems with it. If I make mistakes its normally misspelling some variable names so I often just try to copy past them. But I never felt that I am struggling with spelling while programming the same way that I normally do when writing. Never actually thought about it before to be honest.

In college there was a blind student in the second programming class. That one always confused me. I can't imagine programming Hello World with just a screen reader and yet he somehow passed the intro course.
