Estoy tratando de construir un sistema que pueda traducir entre una lengua Maya y el español, diccionarios disponibles están en formatos totalmente ilegibles y me encuentro con la dificultad de separar los dos idiomas en forma automática

no etiendes español, but i did get that you want to build a machine translator for the mayan language and you've got some difficulty to make it work. right?

@heyheni I got something like that too. If he's having trouble translating idioms, I don't think anyone could do much about it. Even advanced translators such as DeepL manage that okay-ish at best.

@Jilano okay last Time I asked for a job in English my level was 75%. The problem is that now in Guatemala, Mayan language is taught at schools, I am appointed as a teacher since I studied one of the 26 languages spoken here but my order was to teach a different one....

@yerdax since I scarcely use paper hard data I have downloaded scores of materials in the language I am supposed to teach, I convert the documents from PDF to text format, but in the conversion both languages are not separated by a tab or any other specific symbol...

@yerdax as I am a foreign language enthusiast I had a similar problem with a vocabulary with German and English terms. At that Time I asked venerable Excel to separate one entry or two at some precise location of the entry... I woke up to have a snack and.....,

@yerdax pooooofffff when I returned, Excel had tried to make the job for me, with the 7k or so entries.... Since, somehow, Excel recognized the English pattern I guess, but making a difference between Maya and Spanish...

@yerdax I found a preliminary way to do so, manually but using numbers, not cut paste stuff, I am into python now to see if I can somehow find a way to successfully reach the goal of constructing a large digital dictionary...

@yerdax I am a math computer programming combo teacher, graduated at the University, local Maya people are rarely finishing primary school, my home language is Spanish, I started with English at age 15... None could imagine that Mayan would become curricula back then ....

@Jilano lengua means tongue, but in the concept of languages it means that: language.

Spanish is funny in that some words have different meanings depending on the context at hand.
