Do any of you fine people work somewhere where salaries are transparent?
By which I mean, everyone knows (or is able to find out) what everyone else earns

If so, how does it work? Whilst I'm not too bothered how much my colleagues earn (unless it's an order of magnitude more than me or something), I know some people definitely would be

Well I know my professor's salaries are public information, and I'm pretty sure it expands past just professors to adminstrative staff and shit.

@dmcrider57 it's wild how little some of them make.

My favorite professor makes less than every other one I've had. (Granted he's heading into his 4th semester as full time, I think.)

Salaries where I work are transparent but they are full of shit.
Advertised they say about 10k more than they actually pay anyone. Even then our salaries are public info cuz i work for the city

Not very transparent but we know people's salary level. E.g. a colleague we know is on Salary level C2. That means his salary is between $650 - $950. We won't know exactly until he says so. This includes knowing how much our bosses earn too but in a range. Noone is bothered so much by it though.
