Outside of offices, they are at least not unnormal.
I work at a data center and the cameras film the surrounding. -
As long a signed agreement or a clause in your contract, in which you agree to be filmed, it should be fine. Otherwise, there are laws that restrict/forbid filming without permission at the workplace.

@Jilano last time I asked they said it was for safety and one more reason they told was we are having lots of rats.
Meh.... -
@synchronicity you should look up the law, whatever the company policy may be, they have to comply with the law and you have the right to raise a stink about it if you don't like this.
-
They told you it was because of the many rats and you were okay with them calling you that?
-
@TheCommoner282 I meant actual Rats. xD we even have few traps for catching them.

nescaphe13129dYeah, some workspaces remind me of a dystopian society. As far as I know, some companies use https://recfaces.com/ biometric software to control their workers. And this system works pretty damn well, unfortunately for the office staff.
Is it normal to have surveillance cameras at workplace?
They are installing few lately and we didn't use to have them before, at least since when I joined.
