WHAT THE SHIT. I just signed up for devRant, and I immediately need to reset my password. AND THERE EXISTS NO WAY TO DO SO.
On using LastPass to generate a new password, LastPass failed to recognize or save the info, so I have to add the entry manually. Unfortunately, I had hit the button to fill the field rather than copy the string to the clipboard and fill manually, so I don't have the string!
Fine. It's annoying, but I'll just reset my password three minutes after opening the account, whatever. I look around and find a notification bell and three dots. The dots open a 'More' overlay with 'Post', 'Settings', and 'Logout'. 'Settings' offers 'Dark Theme', 'Log Out', and 'Delete Account'; mathematically equivalent to literally nothing. The bell takes me to a page where I see that there's a user avatar next to the bell, which for me has been set to the same green as the background on the previous page, hiding it in a way that defines the term 'asinine'. That just takes me back to the page I was at previously, anyway.
On this page, I see it: A link next to 'Details' to edit my profile! But no, this is equally useless. An overlay of blank fields for description info and ZERO paths to account settings is the final dead end. All this and hits from a Google search (https://devrant.com/rants/134659/...) indicate that logging out and using 'forgot password' is the shitty hack that this site has just always relied upon. I knew I would be able to use this method as a last resort, but it's extremely disheartening to find that the people behind this site's code use such a last resort as the *only* way to implement this basic-as-it-gets functionality.
At least I got a solid rant out of it. That's what I came here for, right?
(Fun aside: There's a way to view the recent Generated Passwords history, but I generated a 23-character password. The list shows `4e*E$XmXBIx*9XUa8zl@2...`, meaning a tremendous, impassable abyss of two whole characters stood between me and any saving grace. Just the latest example I've seen of how LastPass is turning to garbage lately.)
